今日、『CONTROL』という映画を見てきました。"Joy Division"の作詞家兼ヴォーカリストだったイアン・カーティス（1956-1980）の生涯を描いた、アントン・コービン監督による伝記映画です。"Joy Division"というバンドについて何も知らないという人がいたら、今すぐCDショップに行って、『Transmission』とか『She's Lost Control』『Love Will Tear Us Apart』といった代表曲を聴いてみるよう強くお薦めします。

とても素晴らしい映画でした！　『CONTROL』はモノクロで撮られていますが、グレイトーンがとても印象的でした。俳優たちの演技は非常にリアリスティックで、大げさなところはなく、実際の人物の雰囲気をよく捉えた俳優たちがテーマに沿ったシンプルな格好で、彼ら（彼女たち）の人生を演じています。イアン・カーティス役の俳優、サム・ライリーはイアンのハートと魂を忠実に伝えていたと思います。

イアン・カーティスのファッションもすごく気に入りました！　ベルリンのADDというブランドの秋冬コレクションを思い出させるファッションでした（この写真を見てください）！　それに、私にとって、Joy Divisionのソウルとベルリンの雰囲気にはとても強い関連があるのです。ベルリンのあちこちのバーやクラブでJoy Divisionのサウンドを背景に飲んだり踊ったりした素敵な記憶がたくさんあるものですから‥‥。

これは、Joy Divisionが『Transmission』を演奏しているTVパフォーマンスです。Enjoy!

Today, I went to see the movie "CONTROL" directed by Anton Corbijn, which tell the story of Ian Curtis (1956-1980), who was the vocalist and lyricist of the band "Joy Division". If you don't know anything about "Joy Division", I really recommend you to run to a CD store and to listen some of their most famous songs, like "Transmission", "She's Lost Control" or "Love Will Tear Us Apart".

The movie is really great!!! "Control" was shot in black and white, but shades of gray dominate. The performance of the actors is very realistic, not overacting. Where many biopic actors simply dress like the subject and re-enact his or her life, actor Sam Riley (Ian Curtis) truly conveys Ian's heart and soul.

Also, I love the fashion of Ian Curtis! It makes me remember the next Fall-Winter collection of the Berlin brand ADD (see the pictures!)! And it is true that there is a strong connection between the soul of Joy Division and the atmosphere of Berlin. I have many good memories of drinking and dancing on the sound of Joy Division in some bars or clubs in Berlin...

先週、ドイツで一番有名な新聞『DIE WELT』（フランスの『Le Monde』のような新聞）に"showroom Wut berlin"と、日本で私たちがディストリビューターをしているベルリンの6ブランドについて、とても良い記事が載りました。結局、その記事は『DIE WELT』『Welt Kompakt』『Berliner Morgenpost』の3紙に掲載されました！

 

昨年も『DIE WELT』は私たちのセレクトショップ"Wut berlin"について別の記事を書いてくれました。Wut berlinプロジェクトがベルリンのプレス関係者やデザイナーの間でどんどん人気が出てくるのを見ると、非常に嬉しいです！

Last week, in the most famous German newspaper, DIE WELT (same as "Le Monde" in France), there was a very nice article about our "showroom Wut berlin" and the six Berlin brands which we are distributing in Japan. Actually, the article was published in three newspapers: Die Welt, Welt Kompakt and Berliner Morgenpost!

 

Last year already, DIE WELT wrote another article about our select shop "Wut berlin". I'm very glad to see that our Wut berlin project becomes more and more popular among the press and the designers in Berlin!

さて、読者の皆さんの中には「ところで"Wut"って何の意味？　どうしてこんな妙な名前をショップネームにしたの？」とお思いの方もいらっしゃるでしょう。そういうわけで、本日は"Wut"の意味についてご説明したいと思います。

 

私が初めてベルリンに行ったのは、2年以上前のことです。ベルリンがとてもエキサイティングな街だと発見した私は、東京に戻るとベルリン・ファッションシーンに関するアイデアやプロジェクトで頭がいっぱいになりました。飛行機の中で、『Goodbye to Berlin』というChristopher Isherwood作（1939年）の短編小説の仏語訳を読んでいました。この小説は『キャバレー』というミュージカル（1966年）と映画（1972年）の原作としても知られています。

 

小説の中で、"Wut"という一言だけがフランス語に翻訳されていませんでした。作家はその理由について、こんなにディープなドイツ語の言葉を正確に言い表す訳語がなかったからだと説明していました。"Wut"というのは非常に凶暴な感情で、しばしば衝動的かつ攻撃的な反応を伴い、不愉快な状況や言葉として発せられます。"Wut"は苛立ちよりもさらに凶暴で、怒りよりもさらにコントロールし難い感情なのです。

 

さて、ここまで説明してもやはりまだベルリンファッションのセレクトショップとの関係性が見えてきませんか？ 確かに。もう少し説明させてください。

 

ベルリンには大勢の若いファッションデザイナーがおり、非常に素晴らしいクリエイティヴな洋服を作っています。でも、残念なことにベルリンを訪れるバイヤーはそんなに多くはなく、かといって地元の人たちはファッションにそれほどお金を使いません。そう、私が感じたのは、「なんて希望がない状況なんだろう。こんなに厳しい経済状況下で何かを創造し続けるには、どれだけの怒りが必要なんだろう」ということでした。

 

だから、"Wut"という言葉には少しネガティブな響きはありますが、"Wut"こそが創造し、未来を見つめるポジティブな姿勢を表していると私は考えるのです。これが、"Wut berlin"というショップネームの由来です。私たちはこの店を通じて、ベルリンのファッションデザイナーたちのエネルギーと情熱を皆さんへお見せしたいと願っています。

 

 

Well, many of you might wondering: "what does that mean "Wut"? Why did he choose such a strange name for his shop?". So, that's why, today, I am going to explain to you the meaning of "Wut"!

 

More than two years ago, I went to Berlin for the first time. I found out that Berlin was a very exciting city and I went back to Tokyo full of ideas and projects about the Berlin fashion scene. In the airplane, I was reading the french translation of "Goodbye to Berlin", a short novel by Christopher Isherwood (1939). The book has been also adapted into the musical Cabaret (1966) and film Cabaret (1972).

 

Inside of one sentence of the book, only the word "Wut" wasn't translated in French, because the author explained that there is no word to express equivalently such a deep German word. "Wut" is a very violent emotion and often an impulsive and aggressive reaction, released by one as an unpleasantly felt situation or remark. "Wut" is more violent than the annoyance and heavier to control than the rage.

 

So, still you can not make the connection with a Berlin fashion select shop? Sure, let me explain to you...

 

Berlin has a lot of new young fashion designers, making very nice and creative clothes. But, unfortunately, still buyers are not so many to visit Berlin and local people do not really spend money for fashion. So, I thought: "how hopeless seems to be this situation, how much rage it needs to keep continue to create something in such difficult economic conditions."

 

Then, even if the word "Wut" sounds a little bit negative, I think that "Wut" express the positive attitude to create and to look at the future. That is the meaning of "Wut berlin" shop. We want to show you the energy and the passion of the Berlin fashion designers.

 

 

 

 

今日はエティナ・ベリオス・ネグロンをご紹介します。彼女はベルリン生まれ、ベルリン在住の28歳のドイツ人女性です。

 

エティナはベルリンのとても素敵なセレクトショップ「KONK」のオーナー兼バイヤー。私がベルリンに買い付けに行くときは、彼女がコンタクトパーソンになってくれるので、一緒に仕事をしています。エティナはベルリンのファッションデザイナーはほぼ網羅し、さらにアーティストやミュージシャンにも大勢知り合いがいます。

 

今日、私たちは渋谷、原宿、表参道を5時間かけて歩き回りました。　

 

別の1日は鎌倉にハイキングに行ったのですが、最高でした！

 

エティナの目からみた東京を、このブログの中で表現してもらいました。（地下鉄の警備員さんを警察官と間違えていたのは、ご愛嬌。）

 

 

 

 

渋谷：サイバーワールドを歩いているみたい。なにもかも作り物で土を感じさせるものは何も残っていない。人間によって作られた超人工的世界。とても魅了させられる。

 

 

 

寺院：渋谷の後では、この風景には不条理さえ感じてしまう。5分歩いただけで大きな木と沈黙に包まれた静かな世界の中に。この都市では非日常的な静寂。

 

 

 

地下鉄：地下鉄にはこの都市の雑多な生命が存在している。匿名で、礼儀正しい、無限な人々。映画『千と千尋の神隠し』を観た後では、地下鉄は秘密裏にジャパニーズカルチャーについて教えてくれる。東京で出会った人々の中に、映画の中で描かれたキャラクターたちを大勢見つけた。 

  

 

犬たち：何匹かいるし、どうやら生きているみたい。

 

 

 

子供たち：めったに見かけないけれど、もし遭遇できたなら、一大イベント。あんなに可愛い存在はほとんどないから。

 

 

 

美：そこらじゅうにあふれており、とても高度に磨かれた美的感覚。

 

 

 

食事：一度でも食べたなら、中毒になってしまう。

 

 

 

警察官：予想外に、とても親切で助けになってくれる。

"Ettina in Tokyo"

 

Today, I would like to introduce you Ettina Berrios Negron. She's a 28 years old German woman, born and living in Berlin. 

 

She's the owner and buyer of the very nice select shop "KONK" in Berlin. We are working together, as she is my contact person when I go to do my selection in Berlin. She knows almost all the fashion designers based in Berlin, but also artists, musicians, etc...

We also had one day hiking in Kamakura, which was very nice!!!

We have walked during 5 hours around Shibuya, Harajuku and Omotesando!

I let her here to express her feelings about Tokyo.

 

 

shibuya; feels like walking in cyber world, totally artificial, nothing earth-touching left, super artificial world made my humans. very fascinating. 

 

temple; after shibuya, this scenery gets even more absurd, we walked 5 min and were in a quite wonderful place surrounded by old trees and silence.  unusual silence for this city.

 

underground:  the city of cities with a wide life underground. people unlimited. anonymous and disciplined. after watching the movie chihiro, it tells you in a hidden way a lot about the japanese culture, i find more and more the drawn characters in the people i see in tokyo.

 

dogs: well, there are some and apparently they are alive.

 

children:  rare to see, but if, its an event, because there is almost nothing more cute.

 

beauty: there is so much beauty around and a so highly developed sense of aesthetic.

 

food: once you are used to it its addictive.

 

policemen: unexpected, very kind and very helpful.

15:30 Meeting at ANNTIAN's apartment:

 

ANNTIAN is a couple of designers (ANNE and CHRISTIAN = ANNTIAN!). They do very nice colorful handprinted clothes (which you can find at Wut berlin shop)! For the meeting, they prepared coffee and... donughts!!! Why donughts? Because we are all huge fans of the TV serie "TWIN PEAKS"!!! And the Special Agent FBI, Cooper, is always eating donughts in the serie!!!

Their apartment - which is also their atelier- is nicely decorated and to enter their room is like to enter inside the world of their clothes collection...

 

 

 

今日はベネツィアの画家、Emilio Vedovaの大規模な回顧展を見て来ました。Vedovaはヨーロッパのアクション・ペインティングの中で最も重要な画家です。Vedovaは1963年から1965年半ばまでベルリンに滞在したこともあり、この街ととても親密なつながりを感じていたようです。

 

回顧展にはこの画家がクリエイティブだった全時代を通じて150点の作品が出展されていました。

 

とても印象的だったのは、絵筆で描いた木のパネルを組み合わせて作られた、カラフルなインスタレーションでした。非常にインスパイアーされました！　Wut berlinのショップとショールームのディスプレイのアイデアがたくさん浮かびました！

Today, I went to see an extensive retrospective on the Venetian painter Emilio Vedova, who is among the most significant artists of gestural abstract painting in Europe. Vedova felt closely connected to the city of Berlin ever since his stay there from the end of 1963 to mid 1965.

 

The retrospective includes about 150 works from all creative periods of the Venetian painter.

 

I've been very impressed by his colorful installations composed of wood pannels covered with brushstrokes. It was so much inspiring!!! It gives me many good ideas for the display at "Wut berlin" shop and showroom!!!

13:30 クロイツベルク地区の「Luzia」でランチ

 

ベルリンでは、16:00までブレックファストが食べられます！　ですから、私は、本日2度目の"ミックス朝食"（ドイツ語でいうと"Kleine Gemischtes Fruhstuck"）を「Luzia」でオーダーしてみたのですが、これがとにかく美味！　数種類のハム、チーズ、パン、そして美味しいオリーブがついて、たったの4.5ユーロ（約750円）。それに、私はこのカフェの雰囲気が気に入ってしまいました。壁のイラストレーションがとても良い感じなのです！

In Berlin, you can have breakfast until 16:00!!! So, I had my second little "mixed" breakfast ("Kleine Gemischtes Fruhstuck" in German), which was REALLY tasty!!! It is including different kind of ham, cheese, bread and delicious olive (4,50 euros / 750 yen)!!! I also like the atmosphere of this coffee shop, because they have very nice illustrations on the walls!

VLADIMIR KARALEEVはブルガリア出身のデザイナーですが、現在はベルリンに住んで仕事をしています。彼の08-09AWコレクションは幾何学的な形と四角形のパターンをベースにしたものでした。本当に本当に素晴らしいコレクションでした！どの作品も非常に気に入ってしまいました！　できれば全部、自分のために買って帰りたいくらい気に入りってしまいました！

プレンツラウアーベルク地区の「ECKSTEIN」という私のお気に入りのカフェで朝食ミーティング。私は、「Berliner Fruhstuck（ベルリン風ブレックファスト）」をオーダー。ハーフのブレートヒェン（ドイツ風ロールパン）2個にチーズ、ミート、サーモンから1種をチョイスという内容で、たったの3.5ユーロ（約500円！）。これがとても美味なのです！

CAROLA PLOECHINGERはメンズのファッションデザイナーです。彼女の08SSコレクションはWut berlinの店頭に3月半ばに入荷します。彼女はコペンハーゲンでベルリンデザイナー12人を集めたトレードショウ「the fcb／the fashioncollectiveberlin」をオーガナイズして、戻ってきたばかりです。ショウは大成功だったそうです！

 

 

 

I am currently in Berlin to meet designers and have a look at their next FW08-09 collections. Today was very windy and a lot of rain, but I love the cold weather only in Berlin!

 

10:00 Breakfast meeting with CAROLA PLOECHINGER:

 

We have met at my favorite coffee shop, called ECKSTEIN, in Prenzlauer Berg area. I've order a "Berliner Fruhstuck" (Berlin Breakfast), which is including 2 bread roll halfs with a choice of Cheese, Meat or Salmon, for only 3,50 euros (about 500 yen!). It is very delicious!!!

 

CAROLA PLOECHINGER is a men's fashion designer. Her new Spring-Summer 08 collection will arrive middle of March at Wut berlin shop. She just came back from Copenhagen, where she has organized a tradeshow for 12 Berlin designers (the fcb/the fashioncollectiveberlin). It was very successful!
